You do not need another tool this week. You need one small habit you can actually keep. That idea runs through everything below, including the two Google stories.

This week at Google

Check your profile photos for a phone number that is not yours

Search Engine Roundtable reports, and Google has not confirmed this, that a Maps contributor uploaded images to business listings showing the real business name next to a phone number that did not belong to the business. One person reported seeing the same fake number placed across dozens of listings. The report says Google removed that contributor about a day after the complaint went public.

Why it matters: a customer who calls the number printed in a photo on your listing reaches someone else. You lose the call, and that caller may get scammed in your name.

Do this: open your Business Profile photos this week and look for any image you did not upload. Report anything with a phone number on it, then add your own logo and cover photo so your real images show first.

Missing September numbers are probably a reporting delay

Also reported and not confirmed by Google: as of September 8, Business Profile performance reports were showing no data at all for September. The reporter expects the numbers may be filled in later.

Why it matters: if you open your dashboard and see zero calls and zero views this month, your profile is most likely fine. The report is what is missing, not the customers.

Do this: hold off on changing anything based on this month's numbers until the September data shows up.

One lesson

Here is the trap with AI right now. You point it at something huge, it hands you three hundred results, and you never look at a single one. Then you decide this stuff does not work for a business like yours.

Try the opposite. Pick five. Five past customers to follow up with. Five finished jobs to ask for a review from. Five photos that need a caption. Five is small enough that you will actually read every one and fix what is wrong. And those fixes make next week's five better.

That is the whole loop. Small batch, real review, better next batch. It works with a helper on your phone and it works with a notepad.

This week: pick one job, set the number at five, and do it Monday morning. Read all five yourself. Keep the batch the same size next week.

New today: How to Get Google Reviews at a Grand Opening. The playbook works for any busy day you have coming up, not just an opening.

Hit reply and tell me what your five is this week, or ask me anything about your profile. I read every one.
